Z is for Zoe Waterfall Damselfly

Ah! The very last entry in this years A-Z blog Challenge.
The Zoe Waterfall damselfly is endemic to north-east Mexico.
It is exceptionally beautiful with long clear wings that have black tips with a blue stripe. Although occasionally some of them have entirely black wings.
As adults they are voracious predators on flying insects, using their huge black eyes which are specialised to detect movement.
Not a lot is known about this damselfly – and it is classed as Vulnerable by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species because of the deforestation of its high forest habitats.

Congratulations on another delightful poem and story, Liz. We have the banded agrion damselfly (hope that is the correct spelling) on the river near us and watching their display is truly amazing. What a range of creatures we have met during this challenge.

I like your poem on the damsel fly. You can just see the flitting of wings, and the dance over the water. I like how you point out it is on the IUCN list (and provided the link). I think that people should be made aware of species not be around in the future. How many have we lost already?

I’ve never heard of the zoe waterfall damselfly. Sounds kind of pretty. I’ll have to go look it up.
Congrats on finishing A to Z. You stopped by mine a few letters ago and I just discovered the comment was put into the spam folder. I will have to be better on checking that folder to make sure real comments don’t make it in.
