Yellow Tit

A small bird
with soaring crest
black top,
lemon breast,

some birds lift hearts
this is one,
sings a song
shines the sun.

This little bird is found in the central mountain ranges of Taiwan, living on insects it finds in the coniferous and broadleaf forests.
It is thought that it may always have been uncommon, but it is the victim of being caught in nets for the pet trade, and unfortunately felling of its forests have further reduced the population.
Luckily parts of its habitat are now in protected nature reserves and wildlife parks.
It is classified by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals and Birdlife International as Near Threatened.

It is always grand to see folk writing poetry in the A to Z. I cant remember if this is the second or third time I have gone down that route. That little bird is certainly dramatic compared to the British tits we get in our garden, but then maybe it is a case of what you are used to seeing.
Well done with the poetry my own is somewhat different and a bit mad so something of an acquired. And many thanks for calling by at my humble little blog to leave a comment. Just Z to go now so it really is time to relax, although having said that I try to post something most days and we well no doubt have the traditional reflections post in May.

Me, too1 Gives a lift to the heart, doesn’t it! Trouble is they are such small areas, with not much genetic diversity and one good disease could wipe the all out.

My husband loves birds. I like them, but he is always building birdhouses and feeding them and looking up when he sees a new one. I’ll have to show him this.
